EFSA Working Group Discusses Latest Health Claims Applications

Updated: Mar 21

At its last Claims WG meeting on 8 January 2025, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) discussed several health claims applications in the pipeline:

  • Cranberry Powder and Urinary Tract Health The WG discussed the reply from the applicant to the second stop-clock letter and agreed on the conclusions. The draft opinion will most likely now be submitted to the EFSA NDA Panel for discussion and possible adoption.

  • Olive Oil Polyphenols and cholesterol levels The WG discussed replies to the first stop-clock letters related to two applications:
    • Maintenance of normal HDL-cholesterol concentrations
    • Reduction of LDL-cholesterol and systolic blood pressure (SBP), risk factors for coronary heart disease

  • Echinacea with unique alkamides for reducing subthreshold anxiety The dossier was validated for further WG discussion.

The date for the next WG meeting is yet to be announced.
